Board of Trustees Records 1958-1970 ; 1960-1970.

This series comprises material retained by the Rev. Fredrik A. Schiotz, president of The American Lutheran Church (TALC) from 1961-1970 that relates to issues considered by TALC's Board of Trustees. Records in this series are from 1958-1970, but the majority date from 1960-1970. Material that predates the existence of TALC remains in this series for continuity purposes. The bulk of the records comprise handwritten and typewritten business correspondence, but other records types found in this series include minutes from some Board of Trustees meetings, reports, studies, an audit report, budgets, and other financial statements. Much of the correspondence is either carbon copies or blind copies sent to Rev. Schiotz and pertains to matters regarding churchwide budgets and expenditures. Several records pertain to the church's capital education fund drive referred to as Lutherans Ingathering For Education (LIFE). Funds raised were earmarked for capital projects at TALC universities and colleges. There are also several folders of material relating to stewardship. The Board of Trustees comprised several committees, one of which was its stewardship committee. There are also several folders of correspondence authored by George S. Schultz, executive secretary, Board of Trustees.
